Styling
The first generation model of the Honda was one of the better styled cars in its segment. Things have gotten even better on the second generation variant. The hood is larger and aggressively styled while the rear appears to be more proportionate. There are styling influences from Honda’s bigger models; this is evident from the new front grille. The car also has redesigned alloy wheels.
Interior
The New Honda Features a touchscreen infotainment system that sits proudly on the two-tone dashboard. The interior quality also appears to have been revised with changes made to increase the space on the inside.
Engine and gearbox
Even though the Japanese carmaker hasn’t shown the details, the car will continue to use the 1.2 litre petrol and 1.5 litre diesel motor as the current car. The petrol can either be had with a CVT automatic or a five-speed manual, the diesel can only be had with the manual on the current car.
Competition
In terms of competition, the new Amaze will lock horns with Maruti’s Dzire, the Hyundai Xcent, Tata TIgor and VW’s Ameo. All of these cars are priced between Rs 5-10 lakh.
Arrival and pricing
The new compact sedan will be priced slightly higher than the current model’s price tag. The top-spec CVT diesel will have an estimated price of over Rs 1 lakh over the outgoing top-spec diesel model. The car will be launched in the second quarter of 2018 and more details on the Amaze will emerge as the launch gets closer.
