Honda will be releasing its second product of the year, the Honda WR-V. It has also released the technical specifications and variants for its car. Bookings have commenced, against a down payment of ₹21,000. Here are some key features of the WR-V.

1. It borrows heavily from the Jazz

The WR-V shares many features with the Honda Jazz mainly the drivetrain, platform, certain body panels as well as the interior. But to spruce up the inside of the car, new seat fabric, a slimmer gear knob and a front centre armrest have been added. The car though gets a heavily reworked front side, along with changed rear styling and a new tailgate, revised tail-lamps and bumper. The sides still bear a heavy resemblance withe the Jazz.

2. Its bigger than the Jazz

At 3,999mm length, the WR-V is a good 44mm longer than the standard Jazz with width up from 1694mm to 1734mm. It even stands a good 57mm taller than the standard Jazz at 1601mm. With a longer wheelbase, at 2555mm, boot space is up from 354 litres to 363 litres. The WR-V is also heavier than their Jazz counterparts.

3. Engines remain the same

The car uses the same engine and gearbox combinations as the Jazz - a 90hp 1.2-litre i-VTEC petrol and 100hp 1.5-litre Earth Dreams i-DTEC diesel engine. Honda claims fuel efficiency figures of 17.5kpl and 25.5kpl for the petrol and diesel engines, respectively.

4. Two trims available

Two trims - S and VX - are available with the petrol and diesel engines mentioned above. Honda has also added more equipment on the WR-V, with the model featuring LED daytime running lights integrated into the headlamps, large 16-inch alloy wheels on the top variant, a new touchscreen infotainment system, roof rails and a front-centre armrest.

5. It will be launched in India in March 2017

The WR-V will be launched in Mumbai on March 16th and in Delhi on March 17th. Unveiled in early November 2016, it will be positioned above the Jazz, competing with Hyundai i20 Active and the Fiat Avventura, as well as compact SUVs like the Maruti Vitara Brezza and the Ford EcoSport.
