The Kona is Hyundai’s upcoming crossover that is a rival to the likes of the Nissan Juke. Under the skin, it’s similar to the i20 hatchback that’s sold in India, and is positioned below the Tucson SUV in Hyundai’s SUV lineup.
It’s got quite a stand-out design, and the unique styling bits include the SUV’s trapezoidal grille, and the two-piece horizontal tail lamps. The side profile is coupe-like, and features a swooping roofline that terminates into a tailgate-integrated spoiler. Then there are the squared-up wheel arches and body cladding that lend the crossover its butch looks.
Engine options for the Kona are likely to include 1.0-litre and 1.4-litre turbo-petrol engines, along with a 1.6-litre diesel motor. Hyundai says that it will be a true SUV in the true sense of the word, and so, an all-wheel drive setup is also likely. Whether the Kona will come to India remains unknown.
