After a one year long absence, Indian Race Car driver Karun Chandhok will return to Le Mans 24 Hours race for the 2017 season. He just locked the deal with the British Tockwith Ligier squad. He has previously raced here with the JRM and Murphy racing teams.

The racer will participate in Spa World Endurance Championship round that takes place in May, as well as the 24 Hours race in June in an LMP2 (Le Mans prototype 2) class Ligier-Gibson P217 car. Speaking about his return to the track, Chandhok said, "It will be nice to go back to Le Mans because it is the best race in the world. Simon [Moore, the team owner] phoned me and said that they were looking for an experienced driver to come and help out. I was clear that if I was to do Le Mans, I needed to do a race before, and they suggested that instead of me joining them for an ELMS (European Le Mans Series) round, we should do the Spa WEC (World Endurance Championship) round."

He will be sharing cabin space with Tockwith teammates Nigel Moore and Phil Hanson. If recent reports are anything to go by, Chandhok has already had a seat fitting with the team last week and will start practising soon.
