Mahindra has gone ahead and launched an updated KUV100 Hatchback, dubbed as the KUV100 NXT. The entry-level model has been launched at ₹4.39 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), and goes all the way upto ₹7.33 lakh for the top-spec K8 diesel. These are introductory launch prices for the first three months and may increase after.

The facelifted model features a more muscular appearance and can be owned in 10 different trims. All the models feature changes to the interior and a few mechanical updates. The facelift model continues to use the same 84hp, 1.2-litre petrol and 78hp, 1.2-litre diesel mated to five-speed manual gearboxes. However, Mahindra has gone ahead and made changes to the engine damping to improve the overall refinement. Furthermore, the suspension now gets longer travel - an increase of 50mm - which is expected to improve the ride quality considerably.

At the moment, the KUV can only be had with a manual gearbox; however Mahindra suggests that it will provide automated manual transmissions for the KUV in six months’ time. On the outside, it features reworked front and rear bumpers, skid plates on the front and the back, a new front grille with design elements seen on latest Mahindra models. Higher-spec models come with 15-inch diamond cut alloy wheels. The KU100 NXT is now offered as a six-seater, unlike the pre-facelift model that was available as a five- or six-seater. The five-seater version will only be available on a made-to-order basis.

On the inside, the top-spec K8 model comes with a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system loaded with GPS navigation with maps from MapmyIndia. Adding to the equipment list is the remote lock/unlock for the tailgate, power folding wing mirrors, rear parking sensors, a new multi-info display giving readouts for gearshift alert, drive modes and fuel economy. The high-spec models will also come with automatic climate control for the AC. Safety features includes dual front airbags, corner braking control and ABS with EBD.

In terms of competition, the KUV100 NXT is all set to take on the Toyota Etios Cross, Hyundai i20 Active, Maruti Ignis and Honda’s WR-V. When compared to its competition the Mahindra KUV100 NXT is priced brilliantly.
