The company’s new off-roader, an off-highway vehicle, will be manufactured in the US. Mahindra Launched a brand-new manufacturing facility in Auburn, Michigan. Thanks to this move, Mahindra is now the first OEM to start operations in Southeast Michigan in the past 25 years.
Mahindra Automotive North America (MANA), which was set up in 2013, is an automotive design, engineering and vehicle development centre. The company is investing $230 million (₹1,452 crore) as part of its plan, and it even recently opened a warehouse and logistics operation in Pontiac, as well as an existing prototype operation in Troy.
Mahindra now has 400,000 square feet of operations, spread across three Detroit area facilities. M&M set up the Mahindra North America Technical Centre four years ago in Troy, Michigan, to “leverage the automotive talent and intellect surrounding Detroit”.
MANA has tripled its workforce to 250 in the last 18 months and by 2020 aims to create 400 more jobs, with another $600 million (Rs 3,790 crore) in local investments.
