The upcoming CLS will be officially be revealed at the Los Angeles Auto Show. Images of the Porsche Panamera-rivalling Mercedes CLA have leaked on the internet ahead of the car’s unveiling. The next-gen CLS shares a lot with the E-class, right from the underpinnings to the cabin.
The interiors of the CLS will resemble the E-class and will have Mercedes’ Widescreen Cockpit with twin 12.3-inch displays for the instrument cluster and infotainment system.
The multifunction steering wheel will be from the S-class and it will feature the E-class’ turbine-like AC vents. Under the hood, the CLS could feature a range of four- and six-cylinder petrol and diesel engines, all mated to a nine-speed automatic gearbox as standard. The petrol engines could also feature Mercedes’ new EQ Power 48V electric system, making them mild hybrids.
While Mercedes has not confirmed it as yet, the CLS 63 version could be fitted with a V8 engine as well. While there may also be a new CLS 53 will be introduced with the CLS 450’s petrol engine mated to electric motors. The German carmaker could bring the new CLS to India sometime in 2018.
