The Geneva motor show will see Ssangyong showcase its electronic Smart Interface Vehicle (e-SIV) concept.
The e-SIV showcases the company’s future styling direction. It features slim headlights up front and a rear light bar. You can already see hints of this styling in the Rexton, as well as the Tivoli EVR EV concept, which the company showed at Geneva in 2015. The e-SIV will sit above the Tivoli in the range but will be positioned below the Rexton. This concept is also a technology demonstrator and will show Ssangyong’s autonomous capabilities.
The concept is powered by a 188hp electric motor and can hit a top-speed of 150kph. It’s capable of covering 449km on a full charge and there’s a 50-minute fast charge option that charges the car to 80 percent. The Korando is due for replacement in 2019, so the e-SIV concept could spawn the car’s successor.
Ssangyong’s first EV will be based on the Tivoli and is slated for launch before 2020.
