Tata Motors has delivered the first batch of electric Tigors to the state-run Energy Efficiency Services (EESL). The shipment is part of the government's initiative to procure 10,000 EVs.

Guenter Butschek, CEO and MD, Tata Motors, gave the keys of the Tigor EVs to Saurabh Kumar, managing director, EESL. According to Butschek, “This initiative of the government of India to procure 10,000 EVs is a bold step in terms of promoting green and sustainable transport solutions. We at Tata Motors are extremely proud to be part of this project and are supportive of the government’s transformational vision of auto electrification in India. With the Tigor EV, we have begun our journey in boosting e-mobility and will offer a full range of electric vehicles to Indian customers. This tender has effectively paved the way for connecting our aspirations in the e-mobility space with the vision of the government.”

Electra EV, a company that makes electric drive systems for the automotive sector, has provided the drive train for these cars.

The electric sedan is fitted with a single-speed, automatic transmission, and will be delivered in three variants – Base, Premium and High. The cars are in ‘Pearlescent White’ colour and feature blue decals. In phase one, the company is required to deliver 250 Tigor EVs to the government.
