The Innova line-up has a new Touring Sport variant. Here’s what you get for your money.

  • First look: Toyota Innova Touring Sport

This variant of Toyota’s hugely popular MPV is called the Innova Touring Sport and the company calls it the ‘lifestyle’ version of the MPV.

A few styling tweaks set this car apart from the regular Innova. Move to the front and you’ll notice the headlights feature a smoked look, the grille gets a black finish and the lower section features a chrome surround. There’s even more black and chrome on the lower section of the front bumper, side skirts and rear bumper. The wheel arches come with subtle cladding as well. At the back, this car gets a band of gloss black plastic atop the number plate mount. Instantly noticeable are the 16-inch alloy wheels that come finished in matte black.

The car comes fitted with 205/65 R16 tyres that are the same as the Crysta’s though. The Crysta features 16-inch rims after Toyota received feedback of tyre damage under heavy loads. The car is only available in white and an exclusive ‘Wildfire Red’ paint shade.

On the inside, the cabin is near-identical to the Crysta’s. What sets it apart is the red wood detailing, red contrast stitching and red illumination for the instruments. The Touring Sport is only offered as a seven-seater with captain chairs in the middle row. There’s no difference mechanically - there are four engine-gearbox options on offer – 2.4 diesel-manual, 2.8 diesel-auto, 2.7 petrol-manual and 2.7 petrol-auto – albeit in a single top-spec trim only. The automatic variants come with a few additional goodies such as leather seats and electric adjust driver’s seats.

The Touring Sports is available at a premium of ₹75,000 over each comparable Crysta. At this price it certainly isn’t value for money, but it’s for owners who seek exclusivity.
