The tinier T-Cross SUV will launch in the second half of 2018 and will be part of 19 new SUV models that VW plans to introduce. The goal is to ensure 40 percent of company's sales are SUVs.
The T-Cross Breeze concept was revealed at last year’s Geneva motor show and the car will most likely keep this moniker.
The small SUV will be built on the carmaker’s versatile MQB A0 platform and is likely to share parts and engines with the Polo Hatchback. Engines will include a turbocharged 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol engine with 112hp and 175Nm, mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox, and other larger four-cylinder turbocharged units will feature too.
The SUV will be front-wheel drive, but an all-wheel-drive version could also be part of the line-up. The T-Cross is expected to rival Audi’s Q2 when it’s launched internationally.
