The latest generation Suzuki Jimny has garnered quite a lot of attention in the automobile industry with its unique design and off-road capabilities. While there is no official confirmation on the launch of the Jimny in India, there is a lot of hype building up in our country for this lifestyle SUV. Now the latest rounds of crash test from Euro NCAP have revealed 3 star rating of the new Suzuki Jimny.
This is not a good safety rating for the Jimny considering the international safety standards. It has scored 73 percent for adult occupancy safety, 84 percent in child occupancy, 52 percent for road users and 50 percent for its safety equipment. The safety tech on offer for the European model includes 6 airbags, ABS, lane assist system, autonomous emergency braking system and ISOFIX seats.
The Euro NCAP has noticed that the driver-side airbag doesn't deploy adequately and that could lead in serious head injuries in case of a frontal crash. The Jimny gets a 1.5-litre petrol engine in Europe with 4WD and both manual and automatic transmission options. The Jimny won't be getting any diesel engine on offer so expect the Indian version to get a petrol-only version if they plan to launch the car in our market.
