The Utility vehicles (UV) segment in India has seen a rise in demand and a total of 5,19,333 units (up by 16.95 percent) were sold from April-October 2017. That’s 27.17 percent of the total PVs sold (19,10,782) during same the period.
A cumulative total of 79,323 UVs were sold in October, which is a growth of 12.44 percent. Maruti’s Vitara Brezza was the top seller, selling 11,684 units in October 2017 - it contributed almost 50 percent to Maruti’s total UV sales. In second place is the Creta, with Hyundai managing to sell 9,248 units. Mahindra’s Bolero and Toyota’s Innova Crysta came in third and fourth, with figures of 8,395 units (with a 1 percent growth) and 6,455 units (3 percent growth), respectively.
The S-Cross, with 5,510 units sold, thanks to the recent facelift, took the Ertigas spot in the table. Ford’s EcoSport facelift and Renault’s Captur were recently launched in India and they will give these UVs a tough run for their money.
