Jaguar’s plans to launch the I-Pace have been preponed since it wants to get the car out in the market before its German rival Audi. Earlier, Jaguar had planned on displaying the I-Pace concept at the Geneva Motor Show. However, the carmaker now plans on launching a production version model at the show in March.
The electric vehicle from Jaguar will be capable of charging up to 80 percent of its battery in only 40 minutes. It will use a 100kW charger to make this happen, the total range on this battery will be about 499km. When launched, this will become the first electric SUV from a premium carmaker. Jaguar has told us that the car has been testing in Sweden at very low temperatures, to see how the battery performs.
The electric powertrain in the I-Pace is developed in-house and also bespoke. The manufacturer also claims that this drivetrain is ready for production. The I-Pace will be four-wheel-drive and produce close to 400hp and 700Nm. The exterior colours of the I-Pace Concept are identical to those of the I-Type, which is the carmaker’s single-seat electric race car.
