Kia has uncovered a new concept ahead of its debut at the Frankfurt motor show. The sharply styled Kia concept gives us an idea of what the upcoming Cee’d hatchback will look like.
Described as an ‘extended hatch’, the Procee’d concept is a shooting-brake-style estate. Kia also suggested that the concept would display a potential body style for its C-segment car, which is currently on sale in three and five door hatch configurations and estate formats only. The concept has angular light clusters, sharp front-end and aggressive overall styling. The car has hints of design seen on the Stinger and the Picanto.
The next generation Cee’d range will begin with the five-door hatchback and estate variants. These Cars will make their way to the market sometime next year. It’s highly unlikely that the three door Procee’d will be offered. The current-gen Cee’d has been around since 2012, which means it’s time for an update. The Car has also received a facelift in 2015 at the midpoint of this cycle.
In terms of performance, the engines are likely to be a mix of new or heavily reworked existing units. The Cee’d is also expected to feature the 1.0-litre turbocharged three-cylinder engine from the Picanto and Rio. Interestingly, Kia is also working on its India strategy and has begun roadshows for dealers in the country. Kia cars are expected to hit the Indian market by 2019.
